Alan Barnes is a prolific international performer, composer, arranger, bandleader and touring soloist. He is best known for his work on clarinet, alto and baritone sax, where he combines a formidable virtuosity with a musical expression and collaborative spirit that have few peers. His range and brilliance have made him a “first call” for studio and live work since his precocious arrival on the scene more than thirty-seven years ago.

He has written many compositions and arrangements for his all-star octet including “The Sherlock Holmes Suite” and “A Jazz Christmas Carol” and “Fish Tales”and runs a successful Jazz record label Woodville Records.

Alan Barnes’s unique musicianship, indefatigable touring, and warm rapport with audiences have made him uniquely popular in British jazz. He has received over 30 British Jazz Awards, most recently in 2016 for clarinet, and has twice been made BBC Jazz Musician of the Year.

Shepperton Jazz Club (aka Harri’s Jazz) has been running for the last 38 years.

From September 2019, new promoter Nigel Price will continue to present the the best of British and international artists and jazz ensembles in this comfortable setting with club priced drinks, a grand piano, stage lighting, and superb sound system.

Shepperton Jazz Club runs on the last Thursday monthly from 8.30 to 11 pm at Bagster House in Shepperton, Middlesex. Autumn programme commences September 2019.
